We are thrilled to announce our involvement in an innovative and essential Erasmus+ project for the training of young leaders and youth workers. Our commitment, in collaboration with organizations from Jordan (Seeds), France (Association Agir), Palestine (Youth Development Resource), Greece (Youth Path) e Egypt (Have a dream), aims to enhance media literacy to promote informed civic participation.
Project Objective: Our project aims to tackle the growing challenge of distorted information, fake news, and online hate influencing young people’s perception of critical issues such as the climate crisis and refugees. Through intensive training, we want to equip young leaders and youth workers with the necessary skills to discern between genuine and false information.
Addressing Current Needs: The digital world we live in is a complex maze of news, but unfortunately, many of them are false and misleading. In 2022, Italy faced challenges related to fake news that influenced opinions on sensitive topics such as the work of NGOs with refugees and climate change. This project aims to restore trust in authentic narratives, combat online hate, and teach young people how to navigate responsibly on social media.
Project Impact: Our project aims to generate a significant impact both during and after its duration. This will include:
- Access to Online Educational Tools: Providing local activists with educational tools on Human Rights Education (HRE) and the ability to share their efforts in human rights protection online, addressing fake news through mass media and social media.
- Civic Participation and Activism: Empowering activists in isolated areas or marginalized communities with skills and tools to be active on online platforms, exchange information, and raise awareness nationally and internationally.
- Enriching Experiences: Involving young leaders and youth workers will allow them to gain international experiences, increase their knowledge, and develop project management and organizational skills.
- Networking: A network of young people, local organizations, involved institutions, local producers, and international partners will be formed.
We will experience Palestrina with Erasmus+ boys and girls.
